Henri Matisse bolstered Aidan O’Brien’s Classic prospects by securing the trainer’s 17th victory in this race at the Curragh.
O’Brien has a storied history of success in this Group Two race over the past three decades, with notable winners including Giant’s Causeway (1999), Hawk Wing (2001), Gleneagles (2014), Churchill (2016), and last year’s champion, Henry Longfellow.
Henri Matisse, having already triumphed in his first two starts at this venue, including a close win in the Railway Stakes in June, entered the race as the 5-6 favourite. Making his debut over seven furlongs, he accelerated impressively to clinch victory by a length over Hotazhell.
