Faye Bramley continues to enjoy a season that scarcely seems to slow, one that is set to carry her all the way to the Cheltenham Festival with the exciting Winston Junior very much to the fore.

The smart Ascot winner, who holds an entry in the Triumph Hurdle and is also the current market leader for the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle, will lead the charge for a trainer who has wasted little time in announcing herself on the National Hunt stage. It has been a campaign in which Bramley’s fledgling operation has firmly caught the eye.

Based at Sir Anthony McCoy’s pre-training yard in Lambourn, Bramley has already enjoyed notable success, saddling Paggane to land a pair of Listed prizes, while Glengouly delivered a memorable moment when springing a surprise in the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham in the run-up to Christmas.

Now, thoughts turn once more to Prestbury Park, where Winston Junior will be among a small but select team Bramley hopes to saddle as she looks to make her mark at the Festival.

“He’s doing really well and I’m really happy with how he’s progressing,” said Bramley, of Winston Junior. “The owners will decide what race they want to run him in, but he’s a nice horse.

“It’s brilliant and there was a time I couldn’t even imagine having a runner at Cheltenham, but to have a horse like him with a squeak of winning is unbelievable. It’s exciting.

“It’s been a rollercoaster of a season and great. The owners have been really supportive and for them to support me like they do and give me the chance is brilliant.”

It all adds up to a Festival appearance that once felt distant, but now very much within reach, and one that promises to be another significant chapter in a season already rich with highlights.
