Cheltenham 2006 / running order & results / THE RACING POST PLATE 1st (9) Non So 14-1 DOUBLE FOR HENDERSON AND FITZGERALD Mick Fitzgerald and Nicky Henderson, successful in the Ryanair Chase with Fondmort, completed a 64/1 double when Non So came home in front in the Racing Post Plate. “This horse deserves a good win as he took a terrible fall in the First National Bank at Windsor,” said Henderson. “He was meant to go to Newbury for the Vodafone but the ground was too fast and I was nevous about running him but this is Cheltenham. Because of the ground I was surprised that Mick chose him over my other two yesterday. “Winning this was just rewards for Non So but Sainsaire didn’t deserve the terrible fall he took at the last. It was a horrible fall but fortunately he got up alright. Perhaps the trip was a bit far for him.” Fitgerald added: “I knew what I had underneath me but it is a long way home, this track is much stiffer than the Old Course and I let the others come back to me rather than chasing them. “Winning here is so satisfying, especially when it is for the boss because Cheltenham means everything to him.” MICK FITZGERALD (JOCKEY) “Nicky Henderson has proved yet again what a fantastic trainer he is for the big day. He’s looked after this fellow and knew he had Non So right for today. “He’s been very unlucky and has twice fallen when he would have won big prizes. I knew what I had underneath me today. “There was plenty of time to let Saintsaire come back to me rather than go chasing him. Every winner you ride here is a big one and it’s very satisfying.” NICKY HENDERSON (TRAINER) “I was trying to watch Non So and Saintsaire at the same time - luckily he’s alright after his fall. We threw three at that and they all ran fantastic races. Mick chose the right one.” Race 4 - Racing Post Plate - Placed Quotes WILLIAMS AND EGERTON PLEASED Both Venetia Williams and Charles Egerton expressed their satisfaction with the performances of Kelrev and Graphic Approach, who finished second and third respectively in the Racing Post Plate. Williams said of the 50/1 runner-up: “I am delighted with that performance. I think he has run up to his best off that mark. “It has been suggested that he is maybe better over two miles, but he has shown today that two and a half is more his trip.” Egerton said of Graphic Approach: “I delighted with him, he’s run a great race. “He made a couple of mistakes at crucial stages of the race and although he might well have finished a bit closer if he had jumped better, I don’t think he would have beaten the winner.” RACING POST PLATE 1 NON SO (FR) (ROA Dawn Run Partnership) Nicky Henderson 8-11-03 Mick
