East India Dock makes all the running to land the JCB Triumph Trial in style and mark himself down as one of the best of his age group.

East India Dock delivered a commanding performance, securing victory by an impressive 18 lengths. Trained by James Owen and ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, the three-year-old gelding justified his status as the 4/5 favourite, maintaining a prominent position throughout the race before accelerating decisively up the hill.
East India Dock's seamless transition from a successful flat racing career to hurdling has been noteworthy, with this win marking his second consecutive victory over obstacles following an impressive debut at Wincanton.
Jockey Sam Twiston-Davies praised the gelding's performance, stating, "He jumped fantastic... when I asked him to quicken turning in it was quite impressive what he did and then he took some pulling up afterwards. Great attitude and lovely way of going."
Trainer James Owen expressed his delight, noting, "He took to it really well. He jumped well. You can ride him how you like, he settled nicely and stayed strong through the line. He shocked me actually how good he was."
In response to this dominant display, Coral has adjusted East India Dock's odds for the JCB Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, making him the 8/1 favourite, a significant shift from his previous 25/1 standing.
This victory not only underscores East India Dock's burgeoning talent but also solidifies his position as a leading contender for the upcoming Festival, where he is anticipated to excel on the more demanding New Course.
