Roger Curtis is the
Lambourn-based trainer of jumping stalwarts such as St Athans Lad
and Mister Ed. The new head lad, chosen from a strong list of applicants,
is Maurice Ahern. In his time Maurice has worked for Dick Hern, John
Jenkins, Dermot Weld and Marcus Tregoning, plus trained for a while
in his own right. |

Just days before the
first Classics are run in Newmarket Godolphin return to their European
base, Moulton Paddocks.
One of the most picturesque stables in the town, the complex is situated
away from the main stream of yards and is ideally located parallel
to the Limekilns, the best grass gallops Newmarket has to offer.

Extensive private gallops
at Farncombe Down and Kingwood provide a variety of training surfaces.
The six furlong Polytrack gallop is straight with a gentle uphill
gradient, while the eight furlong Polytrack gallop, offers a steady
uphill gradient with cambered turn. Three purpose-built stable yards,
with a total of 84, well ventilated boxes, are being supplemented
with a new 20 box yard. |

National Hunt trainer
Kim Bailey gained valuable experience working in the leading National
Hunt yards of Captain Tim Forster and Fred Rimell before setting up
on his own. Successes have included winning the Grand National with
Mr Frisk. |
