Cheltenham 2006 / running order / FULKE WALWYN KIM MUIR CHALLENGE CUP H’CAP CHASE 1st (16) You're Special 33-1 Harding follows in big brother’s footsteps Brian Harding won the 1998 Queen Mother Champion Chase on One Man, and his little brother Richard followed up with victory in today’s Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase. Riding the Ferdy Murphy-trained You’re Special, Harding kept his horse in the front rank throughout, and a fine jump at the last fence settled the issue. “It’s a dream come true,” said Harding, 24, who comes from County Cork in Ireland. “I’ve ridden about 55 winners in point-to-points in Ireland, and 25 or 26 under Rules, but this is my first winner at The Festival. “I got a phone call from Ferdy Murphy a couple of weeks ago and only sat on the horse for the first time this morning when I gave him a canter.” Murphy gave plenty of praise to Harding, and said: “I told him not to hit the horse, but to keep him up there and keep pushing away. “After he pulled up at Fakenham on his latest start he had a little tinkering from the vet to help his breathing - it wasn’t an operation, he just cauterized something. “In the long run he’s a National horse, and now he’s
won this his rating might enable him to get in. He won’t get in
this year, but he could go for the Irish National.” MON MOME AND UNDENIABLE PLEASE CONNECTIONS Mon Mome and Undeniable, second and third respectively in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase, both pleased their connections. Mon Mome was beaten three and a half lengths under Mr Will Biddick, who was enjoying his first Festival ride. Trainer Venetia Williams said: “I’m very pleased with that effort. “He’s kept galloping all the way to the line and jumped really well throughout. “I’m not sure where he will go next.” Back in third was Undeniable under Nina Carberry, who pleased trainer Sue Smith. The Bingley handler commented: “I am delighted with that effort. “He’s done nothing wrong at all for us this year and Nina has given him a cracking ride. “He maybe just lacks a bit of pace but stays very well and will get further than this. “We will try and find a nice race for him now as he deserves to win a good one. We play it by ear, but will have a look at Aintree and there is also Ayr to consider.” FULKE WALWYN KIM MUIR CHALLENGE CUP 1 YOU'RE SPECIAL (USA) (Diane O’Rourke) Ferdy
