QIPCO Champions Day heroine Kalpana could take the well-trodden path of Juddmonte’s former star Bluestocking this season, with this earmarked as a potential starting point for her four-year-old campaign.
Trained by Ralph Beckett, Bluestocking lit up the 2024 season for the famous Juddmonte silks, launching her year with a stylish victory in the Middleton before adding a Group One hat-trick in the Pretty Polly Stakes, the Prix Vermeille, and the ultimate prize—the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
With Bluestocking now retired to the paddocks, it could be Andrew Balding’s Kalpana who steps up to fill the void, having signed off her three-year-old season in style with a Group One victory in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot in October.
She’s a star 🌟

Juddmonte’s European racing manager Barry Mahon confirmed: “Kalpana is back and in good shape. We might look to follow a similar route to Bluestocking, starting in the Middleton before heading on to the Pretty Polly, all being well.”
