Beacon Edge, fresh off a fifth-place finish under second top weight in a Cheltenham handicap just last week, stepped up to Grade 2 company here. Always prominent, the 9-4 shot clinched a two-and-a-half-length victory under Danny Gilligan.
"He's a lovely, genuine horse," Gilligan commented, brimming with satisfaction. "He gives his all every time, and I couldn't be happier with how he performed today. All the nice horses are starting back. Gordon had a good day yesterday, and he already has winners on the board today. Huge thanks to him for giving me these opportunities."
In the tactical play of small-runner fields, timing is crucial. "We picked up the pace turning into the straight," Gilligan continued. "I didn't want to be too far away because I knew my lad stays. He did it well."
