Brian Ellison's Definitly Red was third behind Otago Trail and Bristol de Mai in the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle last time but he came out of that race in great shape to clinch the Wetherby festive highlight.
Always travelling well in the hands of Henry Brooke, Definitly Red cruised through the contest while others made mistakes and loomed up ominously on the outside of Wakanda rounding the home turn.
Blaklion couldn't go with the front two, but what ewas a duel turned into a one-horse show as Definitly Red scooted clear between the last two obstacles.
A good jump at the last sealed it, with Wakanda staying on for second and Blaklion taking third.
