Simon Crisford bagged his first Group-race winner as a trainer as First Selection put up a smart performance in making all to land the 888sport Solario Stakes at Sandown.

Ridden by George Baker, the two-year-old had defied top weight in a nursery when last seen at Newmarket's July meeting and confirmed his progressive profile with a half-length success.
Manaafidh pressed the winner hard through the closing stages, but the 4-1 shot stuck to his guns well to take his record to four wins from five starts, his only reverse coming when ninth in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Crisford said: "What a star this horse has been, that's his fourth win this year.
"He kept finding plenty in front and is a very honest, straightforward colt with a strong will to win. That makes a big difference.
"He makes our life so easy, as he has got the talent to go with his courage.
"He has got an incredibly enthusiastic owner who picked him out at the breeze-up sales and I think he will want to take him to Dubai for the UAE 2000 Guineas, he's got the sort of action to think he will go well on the sand."
