In a thrilling display of equestrian prowess, Lossiemouth galloped to victory, securing a remarkable Cheltenham-Punchestown double for the second consecutive season.
Trained by Willie Mullins, this talented five-year-old mare arrived at Punchestown with confidence, having previously triumphed in the Mares’ Hurdle at Prestbury Park by comfortably defeating her rival, Telmesomethinggirl.
During the race, Telmesomethinggirl initially built up a healthy lead under the skilled jockey Rachael Blackmore. However, Lossiemouth, ridden by Paul Townend, strategically positioned herself in second place, keeping the front-runner within her sights.
As they entered the home straight, Lossiemouth seized control, leaving no doubt about the outcome. The result was a resounding victory, with Lossiemouth crossing the finish line a remarkable seven lengths ahead of the competition.
Stablemates Gala Marceau and Ashroe Diamond valiantly attempted to keep pace with Lossiemouth, but her dominance remained unchallenged.
