Arvika Ligeonniere, beaten when favourite for the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas, got back to winning ways with a smooth victory in the Tied Cottage Chase, the highlight of Punchestown's card on Sunday.
Sent off the 2-7 favourite, Arvika Ligeonniere, who runs in the Annie Power colours of Susannah Ricci, had way too much class for his three rivals and was eased down by jockey Ruby Walsh to beat Toner D'Oudairies by 14 lengths.
The Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old, who is now unbeaten in five starts at Punchestown, is entered in the BetVictor Queen Mother Champion Chase, Ryanair Chase and Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup next month, but has been regarded as a better horse going right-handed.
Walsh, however, thinks going the other way at Cheltenham will not be a problem.
"He travelled extremely well," said the rider, a Tied Cottage Chase winner on Nickname in 2007.
"He was brave at a few of his fences, but that's just him and two-milers for you. It was a really good performance and I don't see going left-handed being an issue anymore."
BetVictor left Arvika Ligeonniere at 16-1 for the Champion Chase, while MansionBet also kept him at that price. They left him unchanged for the Ryanair (14-1) and Gold Cup (50-1) as well. William Hill go 8-1 (from 14) for the Champion Chase.
