Winner of the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, Motakhayyel travelled strongly through the seven furlong contest and kicked for home a furlong out.
In contrast Sir Busker, another winner at the Royal meeting, hung badly to his left when asked to close him down, bumping into Spanish City.
Oisin Murphy tried to straighten him up but he still showed a tendency go to left and had to settle for second, threee-quarters-of-a-length adrift.
Godhead ran a big race in third with Arigato fourth. Plenty of firms were paying five places and that spot was filled by Matt Brocklebank's Value Bet selection Keyser Soze.
Winning trainer Richard Hannon said: “He has been a star for me. He was a good horse last year but he lost his way slightly, so we decided to look after him with this year in mind. He has been in great nick at home and to win a Royal Ascot handicap, you have got to be very good.
“He clearly still has a bit in hand and is improving and hopefully he will turn out to be a black type horse. I don’t think we will go to the Lennox as we have to be careful about the ground and track with him. He has done well and done his job no matter what.”
