The consistent Cable Bay held off a host of challengers under Frankie Dettori to secure the Group 2 Challenge Stakes for Charlie Hills

The Charlie Hills-trained four-year-old has been running consistently well in defeat since his last victory at Haydock in late May and was always well positioned in the hands of the popular Italian.
As German raider Shining Emerald began to weaken, Cable Bay quickened up well to lead and although the challengers came at him hard late on, Dettori's mount just had enough in the tank to hold Breton Rock at bay by a neck.
Last year's Dewhurst winner Belardo ran his best race in a long time to finish third.
Dettori said: "He loves Newmarket - he's run some great races here - and came here in tip-top form.
"It looked very competitive, but he got the job done."
Hills said: "He's had a really long season, but he's got such a great temperament and a very good constitution as well.
"He ran last Saturday over six furlongs at Ascot and came out of that bouncing, so we thought maybe we'd give him one more chance.
"I couldn't be more pleased for the owners, who've been big supporters of ours.
"John and Jake Warren have bought the horse to go to stud now. Winning a Group Two like that is great for them and he'll stand at Highclere Stud next year.
"He's got every chance of making a good stallion."
He added: "It's nice to win this race. I'm not sure if he'll have one more run - maybe in the USA or Hong Kong."
