Wedding Ring went some way to paying back her 310,000 guineas price tag when landing the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies' Trophy at Newmarket.

Martin Lane guided Charlie Appleby's charge to win by three-quarters of a length from Manderley, with Fashion Fund back in third.

The most expensive runner in the field and sent off the 11-4 joint-favourite, she swooped inside the final furlong to land the £162,330 first prize in the famous royal blue colours of Godolphin.

Appleby said: "They've gone no gallop early on and Martin gave her a great ride, dropping her in and being patient, and she saw the trip out well. She's a potential Dubai Guineas filly and she'll go for a seven-furlong trial out there in February. She's been ultra-consistent."

Martin Lane added: "Charlie Appleby gave me loads of confidence beforehand - he told me to take my time and ride her for her turn of foot. She showed that burst of speed in the final furlong and has done it well.

"She has picked up really well and the style of racing at Meydan will suit her."
