Hot Snap for Cecil in Nell Gwyn 1 Hot Snap 10/1 Hot Snap came from last to first to win the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket for Sir Henry Cecil. In an unusual move from Cecil he sent a once-raced maiden winner to a Classic trial, and his first runner of the new season on turf this year was sent off a 10-1 chance. A half-sister to Cecil's great mare Midday, Hot Snap was last in the early stages and while the Moyglare Stud winner Sky Lantern looked to be going better, Hot Snap quickened up stylishly for Tom Queally to win by two and a quarter lengths. Ed McMahon will be thrilled by the run of Winning Express, who came home third. Cecil said: "She's not there yet. She wants a mile and I expect her to come on for that. She could possibly be a Guineas filly. Otherwise she will be a nice one for Royal Ascot. "She has only been on the grass once this year and the idea was to give her a bit of time to find her feet. She is coming on and will be much better in three weeks' time." Confirming that, Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, said: "I would think if Henry's happy we will have to give the Guineas some proper consideration."
