Partnered by Michael Hills, the 6/1 chance found plenty in the closing stages to repel the challenge of Nargys.

Winning trainer Charlie Hills said: “She won like a nice filly and Michael said she still had another gear.

“She has gone away again when she hit the rising ground.

“She has gone in her coat and had a bad scope following her last run and we had thought of not running today, but I am delighted we decided to give it one more go.

“It helps enormously to have a filly in the yard like her going into the winter.”

Ladbrokes introduced Just The Judge into the betting for the 2013 QIPCO 1000 Guineas at 20/1 while she is 16/1 (from 25/1) with MansionBet .

David Redvers, bloodstock advisor to joint-winning owners Qatar Racing Limited, said: “This filly has a lovely pedigree. She has size, scope and is bred to improve.”

Redvers also had news of Hydrogen (a Galileo half-brother to the 2007 Derby winner Authorized), the 2.5 million guineas sales-topper at Tattersalls this week who Redvers purchased on behalf of Qatar Racing.

He continued: “The colt has gone to Tweenhills Stud and will be broken in by the former jump jockey Graham McCourt.

“There will be a yearling parade for the Sheikhs on November 18 when it will be announced who will train the horse. Someone is going to look scared and happy at the same time!”

    Nargys
QIPCO 1000 GUINEAS ON THE HORIZON

Nargys, a Lawman filly who was sold to John Warren on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum for 125,000euros at the Goffs Orby sale last year, stepped up in class to take second, beaten one-and-three-quarter lengths.

Nargys, who had previously run in maidens and been second in the Carrie Red Handicap at Doncaster last time out, pleased her trainer Luca Cumani, who said: “She ran very well - she was a bit unlucky because she couldn’t come out when she wanted to. She had a couple of horses in front of her bringing her back whilst the winner went clear, then when she got a gap she flew. I am delighted with her.

“That will be it for this year but it would be nice to think she will be a QIPCO 1000 Guineas filly.”

Mickael Barzalona, who rode third placed Desert Blossom for trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni, said afterwards: “She ran well and has improved after each race. I am happy and think she will win a Group race.”
