    Bronze Angel
Marcus Tregoning's Bronze Angel emerged a last-gasp winner of the Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket.

The three-year-old had been off the track since Royal Ascot and only crept into the race as the final 35th runner.

Having raced up the near side for three-quarters of the contest, William Buick's partner (9-1) ended up veering over to the far side to join the other prominent runners. Mull Of Killough looked to have made a decisive break on meeting the rising ground, but he was caught close home by three-quarters of a length.

Tregoning also trained the third-placed Boom And Bust, while Bancnuanaheireann finished fourth at odds of 50-1.

Buick said: "I thought he had a very good chance but there's so many runners that you can make a case for. I was lucky the horse took me far enough. He's won really well. I'm sure he's got a big future."

Tregoning said: "I knew he was coming into this race in really good form. I'm so pleased for the team at home. Sheikh Hamdan owns the yard so it's very important (to have big winners). They're a very good team and have looked after horses like Nashwan and Nayef so I'm thrilled.

"It's very exciting to have pulled it off. To say we'd laid him out for it wouldn't be quite true but the horse had to have a break and this looked a chance for him.

"We didn't have the best bunch of horses this year but we haven't done badly with the handicappers and this is our Group One. Boom And Bust very nearly won it on his side and he's run a great race, too, considering he only ran last week."
