Body And Soul provided connections with an excellent return on their investment as she secured a bumper pay day in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury on July 14.

A £7,500 purchase at the Doncaster Sales last August, Body And Soul was sent off the 9-2 favourite following victories at Ripon and Thirsk. Trained by Tim Easterby and ridden by Duran Fentiman, the daughter of Captain Rio quickened up smartly to lead towards the near side.

Her main dangers were Satsuma on the other side of the track and the fast-finishing Momalorka down the centre, but Body And Soul held on to claim the winning prize of £122,925 by a neck. Satsuma was a nose ahead of Momalorka to claim second.

Easterby said: "I think Duran (Fentiman) nicked it. He rode a cracking race. I told him a month ago to get himself down to 7st 12lb and get ready for this race and no drinking pints in the pub on Sunday afternoon. He can buy me one tomorrow now!

"The horse will go for the Doncaster Sales race at York next month and she won't run until then."
