After finishing third in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in June, trainer Christopher Head had Ramatuelle in peak condition for the seven-furlong race. With Aurelien Lemaitre in the saddle, she traveled smoothly throughout the Group One event and surged ahead decisively.
Kinross, ridden by Rossa Ryan for the Arc-winning team of Ralph Beckett, made a strong effort to catch her in the final strides, but Ramatuelle proved too strong and secured a clear victory. Head, eyeing the Breeders’ Cup for his star filly, remarked, “Did you see that? It was incredible! She showed her class in the Guineas earlier this season and continues to impress.”
Head added, “She’s improving with time and handled the ground well. Training horses like her is a pleasure. I’m grateful to Tony Parker and all the owners for their support. It’s been a chaotic year, and I’m thrilled to win for them today. I hope this success continues.”
Kinross, a seven-year-old, has a history in the Foret, finishing fourth in 2021, winning in 2022, and now placing second. Beckett praised his horse, saying, “What a horse. He was beaten by a very talented filly. I’m delighted with his performance. We’ll see how he recovers, but he might go for the Champions Sprint at Ascot if the ground suits him. It was a tough race with strong competitors like Tribalist.”
Ramatuelle’s victory marks a significant achievement for Head and sets high expectations for her future races.
