Standing solo for Ballydoyle is Giselle, a daughter of Frankel, and a filly who brings the echoes of smart juvenile form as she gears up for her three-year-old encore.
She’ll need to dance her way through a competitive line-up, which could include Grant Tuer’s Love Talk. The filly may not have landed a knockout blow last season, but she kept good company — not least a fourth behind Simmering in the Group 2 Prix du Calvados and again in the Silver Tankard at Pontefract.
“I was toying with the Cheshire Oaks,” says Nick Bradley, whose racing operation owns the filly. “Grant had her in — I even had her declared — but then I pulled the plug. I just think this is the right spot.”
A step up in trip brings questions, but Bradley is assured. “I’ve asked Grant more than once if she’ll stay. Every time: yes. I just need her to finish third — somewhere — to pull that black-type thread together. Hopefully that’s at Lingfield.”
Elsewhere in the entries, That’s Amore is Chester-bound midweek, but her trainer Ralph Beckett could yet be represented by Revoir, while Go Go Boots — trained by John and Thady Gosden — remains unbeaten and was last seen waltzing clear over course and distance, suggesting she may be ready for the next dance.
