Days Of Heaven gets the better of Vago Collonges in the SkyBet Dovecote Novices' Hurdle
The 11-10 favourite looked in a bit of trouble at the second-last when Vago Collonges got a flyer, but he soon picked up for Barry Geraghty and ran out a comfortable two-and-three-quarter-length winner.
Days Of Heaven has given plenty of trouble at the start in the past and he looked a little troublesome once again before eventually jumping off on terms.
Geraghty said: "He was a lot better today, he's just a little bit edgy. We fluffed the second-last, but he was good at the last. I think he'll be a very good horse. He has lots of class and is an exciting type."
Trainer Nicky Henderson added: "I dare not put him in at Cheltenham as he would not cope with that at this stage, but Barry thinks he ought to go to Aintree. Good ground will help him a lot.
"Getting through the preliminaries is a bit scary with him. He is very good, but I thought he had chucked it away at the second-last. He was straight back on the bridle. He is very talented."
Owner Michael Buckley said: "I think it was pretty impressive to pick up when he did in bad ground. I heard Paul Nicholls (trainer of Vago Collonges) congratulating Nicky saying he thinks they are two fair horses."
