Sussex Stakes set to be one of the races of the season

There is no doubting that excitement is building ahead of the Sussex Stakes, that is already being billed as one of the races of the season. Punters have started looking for offers ahead of the event, with the TVG Promo code being an example of this, which covers the latest reviews of sites offering bonuses and promotions for different horse racing events. The Sussex stakes will see two recent Royal Ascot winners taking each other on in the shape of Palace Pier and Poetic Flare, in what is set to be one of the most anticipated match ups of the season and for good reason.

Palace Pier is heading in as the general 6/5 favourite at present and the four year old is regarded as the number one horse in the world by many. Trained by Gosden, he now has a record of eight wins and one third from his nine career starts under rules, that includes back-to-back victories at Royal Ascot. That included this season, where he won the Queen Anne stakes on the opening race of the festival. It was a workmanlike performance, and he was far from his best, but he was still able to put the race to bed in a matter of strides and looked different class to the rest. Palace Pier will now head into the Sussex stakes as the clear horse to beat and the deserved favourite.

In opposition, he will be taking on Poetic Flare, who is currently in as the 15/8 second favourite. He is just three years of age and trained by Jim Bolger but has continued to progress this season, that culminated with a remarkable performance at Royal Ascot. He has now won five of his eight starts but has been improving with each start and it sets up for a fascinating matchup between the pair. He produced one of the most impressive performances at Royal Ascot in the St James’s Palace stakes, where he kicked clear to win easily by just over four lengths. It was a very eye-catching performance, and it is why many feel he could beat the favourite in the upcoming head to head.
