Hoof It had little trouble carrying top weight to a brilliant victory in the Blue Square Stewards' Cup at Glorious Goodwood under Kieren Fallon.

Mick Easterby's speedster, who was carrying a 6lb penalty following success at York just a week ago, was covered up in the middle of the pack early on, but when Fallon produced him to lead he was never in danger of being caught.

The 13-2 joint-favourite was kept up to his work as the line approached and had a full two and a half lengths in hand over Tax Free with the other joint-favourite, Mac's Power, in third. Nasri raced on the stands side for much of the way and passed the post a creditable fourth.

Fallon said: "He's done nothing but improve. Mick walked the course and he told me to go to the far side, so it made my job easier. I think he will be (a Group One horse)."

Easterby, after being heartily congratulated by Sir Henry Cecil, predicted: "With another year on his back, he'll be unbelievable. I'm absolutely over the moon. I'm so thrilled as I've been trying to win this race all my life.

"I bought him as a foal for £6,000, put him back in the Doncaster Sales and nobody came, so I bought him back for £14,000 - unbelievable isn't it?

"How Kieren Fallon got to that favoured rail from his draw (18) is amazing. He must be the greatest jockey in the world."

Hoof It is jointly owned by Easterby, golfer Lee Westwood and his manager Andrew 'Chubby' Chandler, who said: "Lee is flying to America on Sunday morning and he's got a job to do, so he's concentrating on that. He has already phoned me though and he's very excited.

"I've no idea what the cost is (to supplement for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York), I thought Mick had entered him. We will see what's what and we would like to have a go at all sorts (of races) - Hong Kong, Paris. We travel a lot and that's what we're all about."
