Whats Happening comes from the clouds to land the Trophy at Cheltenham under Noel Fehily
Tom George's Whats Happening was only sixth jumping the last, but was delivered with precision to get up in the final 50 yards.
Perfect Candidate was two lengths back in second place with Fox Appeal another half-length away in third.
George said: "I'm delighted with that as I didn't think he'd be sharp enough for three miles. I thought this would put him right for the three-and-a-half-mile chase at the next meeting and that's what we had in mind and we will probably stick to that.
"Phil Smith (handicapper) said after he won here in April he might be a National horse and he might be right as he stays all day, but he's got a bit of pace about him and keeps it up his sleeve until he needs it."
