Josies Orders continues Enda Bolger's fine record in the Cross Country Chase to win at 11-4

"A remarkable ride from start to finish. Nina doesn't need three pounds, she should be giving three pounds in these races."

Josies Orders survived a number of mishaps to run out the one and a quarter length victory over Any Currency.

The 11/4 favourite had to negotiate a number of horses falling in front of him, including Uncle Junior who slipped up as the field turned for home, but his jockey, Nina Carberry, was alert to the dangers and galvanised her mount for a sustained challenge up the hill and the seven-year-old responded gamely to land the spoils.

Josies Orders gave Bolger his seventh victory in this race and his trainer was quick to praise Carberry immediately afterwards.

"It was a very nice performance and he's only seven so there's lots to look forward to," said Bolger.

"Obviously we'll aim him for the Cross Country race here back in December and then for the big Cross Country race at The Festival.

"I must say that Nina Carberry's experience showed again today. Things were a bit awkward at times with horses falling in front of them but she got around them. That's the Carberry factor though - she's been hunting since she was four or five years of age and she was able to dodge them.

"He's a lovely horse. Jonjo (O'Neill) had him before me and he won a three mile hurdle at Ascot at one point. You need a very relaxed type of horse for this type of race. It's three mile seven furlongs long and I thought today's field was the best Cross Country field I've seen so it goes to show you just how popular they've become.

"You need a horse that settles and doesn't use energy along with a great jockey which we certainly had today."

Martin Keighley, who trains runner-up Any Currency locally near Stow-on-the-Wold, said: "I'm very pleased. It just baffles me how the handicapper keeps putting him up the way he does. He's put him up another 3lb since he last ran and it's taken his soul today - he's given 20lb to the winner.

"I just don't see why he had to put him up after he got beat at The Festival."
