9/2 chance Shantou Village, who is unbeaten in all three starts under Rules, is trained by Neil Mulholland.
He said: "I'm very happy with him. All four horses in the race probably could have won. But he won very well.
"We were here for him to do his best - he's three runs, three wins, but David Pipe's horse [Champers On Ice] is two runs two wins, Paul [Nicholls, trainer of Alcala] and John Ferguson's horses all had good reputations.
"We still don't know how good he is though. He keeps impressing and we will find out in time. Maybe we'll come back on Trials Day in January and run him over 2m 5f to see if he wants that or three miles. We might be better stepping him up in trip again, but Noel Fehily thinks he's still very green.
"Noel had to give him a couple of slaps down the shoulder going past the stands on the last circuit and I was thinking, 'what's going on?', but he said he's just lazy and he does what you ask him to do. He's a lovely horse to have in the yard."
Mulholland's horses are in good form, and he added: "We've got Fox Norton here on Sunday in the Racing Post Arkle Trophy Novices' Trial - he's two wins from two runs as well."
