John Neild and his gang, who were confident Splash of Ginge would prove his disappointing chase debut all wrong, cheered in the impressive winner.
Neild had recently told the Echo his horse would be back and there no bigger smile in the winner's enclosure than his.
"There is a small group of us here today, when he loses a few drop off but I was quite bullish today.
"I've said before this horse must need the first run and thankfully he has improved for it.
"I wanted him to go off in front but what do I know!"
The owner ran up to the podium to collect his prize with his arm wrapped round jockey Sam Twiston-Davies, who said: "His owners are just so enthusiastic about the game.
"This is the stuff dreams are made of. What's really great about this horse is he got beat in a bad hurdle at Bangor and all he has done is improve.
"The world is his oyster."
