Rest of the World Team Win Shergar Cup The Rest of the World team won the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup with 89 points as against 55 for Team Europe, 54 for The Girls and 46 for Great Britain & Ireland. Matthew Chadwick, successful in the final race, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint, on Mince, took the Silver Saddle award for being the leading jockey today on 45 points. His victory was also judged the ride of the day. Chadwick said: “Mince travelled beautifully, hit the front and she wasn’t going to lose. It was a big team effort from the other two boys - it’s all about consistency and we managed to pull it off.” Yutaka Take, the team captain of the Rest Of The World, was delighted at the triumph for his team. He did not have a winner himself today but still managed to accrue 24 points and finish in fourth place for the Silver Saddle, awarded to the leading rider on Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup day. Take said: “I am very happy. With it being the year of the Olympics, we were aiming for gold. “I was pleased with how I got on today - I did not have any winners myself but my team mates both won. “I love coming to Ascot and the Shergar Cup and, if possible, it would be great to return next year.” Take received a ban after his second on Ahzeemah in the Titanic Belfast Shergar Cup Classic. The stewards found he used his whip above the permitted level and gave him a four-day ban (August 25 to 28 inclusive). Chantal Sutherland, who received a four-day whip ban earlier in the afternoon, came second on Galician in the final race, the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint. The ban does not affect her ride on Game On Dude in the Grade One Pacific Classic at Del Mar on August 26 as she can defer the ban for that day She said: “It is a Grade One race so I can defer the ban which is good because Game On Dude is my life. “It was so close in the last race. Galician is a nice filly and Mark Johnston is an awesome trainer. His horses are beautiful movers, smart and they know how to run. His horses are tight and ready - I like him. If I ever come back to England, I want to ride for him. “It was a good day and experience.”
