Cheveley Park on Sendmylovetorose List A total of 60 fillies have been entered for the £150,000 Group One Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes, run at Newmarket over six furlongs on the final day of the Cambridgeshire Meeting, Saturday, September 29, 2012.
The entries include Sendmylovetorose, who won the Group Two Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes by a head from Maureen at Newmarket’s Piper-Heidsieck July Festival on July 13. The daughter of Bahamian Bounty had previously won her maiden by five and a half lengths in early June, before a comfortable victory in the Group Three Grangecon Stud Stakes at the Curragh on July 1. These victories were either side of a stalls incident at Royal Ascot which led to her withdrawal from the Group Three Albany Stakes on June 22. Her trainer Andy Oliver, based in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, said: “Sendmylovetorose is a Group Two winner and the next stage up is a Group One so the Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes is certainly on the agenda. “She is in good form and has come out of her race at Newmarket terribly well. We are now waiting for her next opportunity because unfortunately we didn’t have her entered in anything as we were taking one step at a time - the Jaguar Cars Cheveley Park Stakes is the first big entry she has. “The main target for her in Ireland would be the Moyglare Stud Stakes (September 9) which she would have to be supplemented for, but whether she runs in the meantime has yet to be decided. There is the Keeneland Debutante Stakes, but she is already a Group Two winner so she might just go straight for the Moyglare. “I wouldn’t be too worried about stepping her up to seven furlongs and although she has plenty of boot, Colm O’Donoghue said he would be certain she will get seven furlongs. “She has done all her winning over six, but you hope as the season goes on they will progress, so I wouldn’t be concerned about stepping her up. “She did take us by surprise a bit because we hadn’t done an awful lot with her before she ran, so we were pleasantly surprised when she won like she did first time out. “She would be such a cool customer that she only does what you have to do at home and early season form is hard to read, so even though she won her maiden so comfortably, we still didn’t know how far she would go. “She is a very sound filly with a nice light action. She obviously handles the soft, but whether she needs it or not I don’t know. “We are in the position in both Ireland and Britain where we have nothing else to run on other than a softer surface, but I certainly wouldn’t be avoiding quicker ground with her when it comes. “I expect her to make a nice three-year-old as well as there is still plenty of developing to do. With what she has done so far you would take your hat off to her because if you looked at her as an individual she is light enough and you would say there is a lot of physical maturation and developing to come. “You would hope with natural progress that she would make up into a stronger filly and you would hope she will get a mile next year.” Other notable entries for the six-furlong contest include impressive Group Three Albany Stakes scorerNewfangled, who is the ante-post favourite for next year’s QIPCO 1000 Guineas, and Group Two Queen Mary Stakes one-twoCeiling Kitty and Hoyam.
