Real Reindeer to Set Aintree's Festive Raceday off to a Flying Start Aintree Racecourse looks set to start the festive period on Sunday 21st November with a winter warming raceday that will see Father Christmas pay a visit to the famous course with his real reindeer. These special guests will be just part of the Christmas entertainment on offer for all the family as Aintree offers a taste of the festive season at the home of the John Smith’s Grand National, including Christmas shopping, Christmas food and Christmas craft workshops. A seven race card will also be keeping racegoers entertained, with two races over the Grand National course itself - the only time in the year it is raced over outside of the Grand National meeting and the racecourse’s final meet before the 2011 John Smith’s Grand National in April next year. With Christmas just weeks away, children will have the chance to feed and pet Father Christmas’ reindeer before heading into Aintree’s grotto to the visit the famous man himself and receive a free gift. Christmas concessions will be on available to help with early Christmas shopping while Christmas crafts and live Christmas music are guaranteed to add that magic sparkle to get racegoers in the festive spirit. Known in the racing calendar as totesport Becher Chase day, racing at Aintree will be the second and final day of Northwest Racing Masters weekend, which opens with Betfair Chase day at Haydock Park on Saturday 20th November, another of the Northwest’s premier racecourses. Emma Owen, Marketing and PR Manager, Aintree Racecourse, commented, ‘With Christmas just around the corner, we’ve giving racegoers the chance get the family together and take part in some festive activities, as well as enjoy racing over the Grand National fences. It’s not every day you get to pet a real reindeer and see racing over the famous Grand National course, so this promises to be a truly magical winter jumps experience.’ Tickets for this day are on sale and cost £16 for adults, whilst accompanied children aged 17 and under go free. Two day tickets are available for the North West Racing Masters weekend are available from £25 until 19th November. Hospitality starts at £50 per person and kids eat free.
