Dubai Prince Misses QIPCO 2,000 Guineas and Investec Derby

Dubai Prince will miss the Group One QIPCO 2,000 Guineas and the Group One Investec Derby following a training setback.

He has been diagnosed with a hairline fracture of his right ilial wing and will require a few weeks on the easy list.

Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said: “It is a big shame as he had been shaping up nicely this spring.

“He will now need a few weeks off but he should be fine for later in the season.”

Godolphin still have Casamento and Saamidd engaged in the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas and a decision regarding their participation will be made in the middle of next week.

Dubai Prince 14-1 for Derby and Guineas After Leopardstown Romp 25/10/10

William Hill have given Dubai Prince opening show quotes of 14-1 for both the Derby and the 2000 Guineas following his impressive victory in the Group 3 Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown on Monday.

The son of Shamardal, who was sent off the 4-9 favourite, spread eagled the field in the final 2 ½ Furlongs of the race – and was eventually returned a very easy 3 ½ lengths winner.

After the race his jockey Pat Smullen described the winner as ‘High class and a real top drawer performer.’

‘Dubai Prince was a really impressive winner of the Killavullan,’ said Hills spokesman Tony Kenny ‘He’s absolutely destroyed a decent field at Leopardstown – and he must be considered a serious contender for next year’s Derby. We’ve also put him in our Guineas betting, but his pedigree suggests he’ll do better over middle distances.’
