Breeders' Cup News - Workforce to Travel to Kentucky for the Turf 05/10/10

Connections of Workforce will may decide to have a tilt at the Breeders' Cup Turf as long as the colt shows himself to be in good order over the next 2-weeks.

The Khalid Abdullah / Sir Michael Stoute winner was in danger of going down as a poor Derby winner but thoroughly proved himself in winning the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday and is now favourite to win in America at Churchill Downs next month. "The horse trotted out fine this morning," Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah said yesterday. It was quite a rough race but Ryan negotiated a very good passage for him. He showed plenty of courage and brilliance to quicken at the right time. The plan is to be decided. The Breeders' Cup could be a possible, but we'll have to see how he is over the next couple of weeks. We will have to wait and see about next year."

Paco Boy could also be heading to Kentucky for the Breeder's Cup Mile in Kentucky to renew rivalry with wonder mare, Goldikova. With the score standing at 4-0 to the mare, the trainer's son told the stable's website;

"The draw did us no favours at Longchamp - Goldikova is a remarkable mare and she thoroughly deserved her 11th Group One, but Paco Boy (10) and Dick Turpin (9) were both drawn on the outside and it was always going to be tough. If we do decide to go to Kentucky with Paco Boy we'll obviously come up against Goldikova again - we have met four times and we have yet to beat her. However, the draw is even more important over the mile in American racing, and maybe in Churchill Downs we will get the luck.

Tuesday's card at Leicester will take place in bottomless conditions and FAYRE BELLA could have a squeak at 25/1 in the 4.40. Not the speediest but did win her maiden on easy ground and this is a step down in class against a falling mark.

Recommendation: 4.40 Leicester - Fayre Bella
