Goffs Million Sale off to Strong Start
26/09/06

The Goffs Million Sale got off to a strong start today with figures for the opening session showing significant increases over the first day last year. The average price increased by 19% to euros115,424, while the aggregate increased by 33% to euros2,046,000. The highlight of Day 1 was undoubtedly Kildaragh Stud's Red Ransom filly (Lot 105). Out of a half sister to champion filly Islington, she was knocked down to John Ferguson for euros1,050,000.

Shortly after, Lot 108 reached the half million mark when knocked down to Demi O'Byrne. The good looking Kingmambo filly, consigned by Loughtown & Chevington Studs, is a half sister to Group 3 winner Maharib and her dam is a half sister to Polish Precedent. Amanda Skiffington later paid the second highest price of the day when going to euros525,000 to secure Meadowland Stud's Danetime colt (Lot 185).

The Million Sale continues until Thursday 28th, with selling commencing at 11.30 am on Wednesday 27th and 10am on Thursday. Only horses catalogued in this sale are eligible for the euros3.2 million prize fund in the Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Million races next year.
