Tony Dobbin Top Jockey At Ayr 27/04/06
THE 2005-2006 jumps awards at Ayr Racecourse were decided after the Scottish
Grand National Festival last week and all three prizes – for leading
jockey, owner and trainer - stayed in the north.
Points
were awarded in each race run at Ayr during the jumps season from last
November until Scottish Grand National Saturday with four points going
to the winner down to one for fourth.
Top jockey was Tony Dobbin who rode a total of 18 winners and his principal
trainer Nicky Richards lifted the trainers prize after saddling 12 winners.
Leading owner was Perth businessman Raymond Anderson Green who had eight
winners during the season.
Ayr Clerk of the Course Anthea Morshead said : “Dobbs was far and
away the top rider beating Richard McGrath by 12 wins and he really is
a course specialists at Ayr. Nicky Richards is a loyal supporter of the
track and had a great season here as did Raymond Anderson Green.”
All three winners receive prizes of stays at Ayr Racecourse’s four star Western House Hotel and Raymond Anderson Green’s distinctive colours of green with yellow sash will be on the menus in all the restaurants at the track.
