Craig Williamson, previously Estates Manager at Sandown Park, has been appointed to the new position of Regional Estates Manager, with overall responsibility for the condition of the three courses within the London Region.

His predecessor at Epsom Downs, Nigel Whybrow, has taken up a new position as Training Grounds Manager there, responsible for the operation and development of the training industry in the area. Steve Gudge continues as Estates Manager at Kempton Park and remains responsible for the day-to-day preparation of the turf and AWT tracks.

Craig Williamson has been Estates Manager at Sandown Park since 2000, and prior to a spell as Head Groundsman at Worcester had spent six years as a Groundsman at Epsom Downs.

Andrew Cooper, Joint Regional Head of Racing for the JCR London Region, commented: “Having carried out a review of the Estates structure within the London Region, we firmly believe that these new appointments make best use of the highly talented individuals at our three courses.

“For the first time the Training Grounds at Epsom will have dedicated senior management focus via Nigel Whybrow, and Craig Williamson will be able to exercise his undoubted racecourse management expertise across a wider spectrum."
