Blue Bunting Heads 25 for Investec Oaks

There are 25 entries for the Investec Oaks, staged at Epsom Downs on Friday, June 3, after yesterday’s scratchings’ stage.

The Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained Blue Bunting, the 2/1 favourite with William Hill, is one of two Godolphin fillies heading for the 12-furlong Classic after her success in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. Saeed bin Suroor is responsible for the other Godolphin runner, Khawlah, winner of the UAE Derby and UAE Oaks earlier this year.

Weatherbys Bank Chester Vase winner Wonder Of Wonders heads the strong Irish challenge of Aidan O’Brien who has six others also still engaged - Together, Misty For Me, Look At Me, Spin, Why and Eirnin.

Havant, sixth in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas, represents Sir Michael Stoute, while the unbeaten Zain Al Boldan is one of four from Mick Channon’s stable, with the others being Fork Handles, Show Rainbow and Stella Point.

The progressive Siren’s Song is one of three trained in Ireland by Jessica Harrington who is also responsible for Laughing Lashes and Bible Belt, owned like last year’s Investec Oaks winner Snow Fairy by Cristina Patino.

Benny Andersson of Abba owns Beatrice Aurore, a ready winner at Goodwood this week, who is trained by John Dunlop.

Consistent Dancing Rain, trained by William Haggas, and Izzi Top, from John Gosden’s yard, are other leading contenders.
