A thrilling finish was fought out by the two best backed horses in the race.
Dinoblue, long favored for the race, faced the challenge of Limerick Lace, who gained significant backing on race day. Despite questions about Dinoblue’s stamina, jockey Keith Donoghue had unwavering confidence in the winner. As they rounded the bend, Donoghue surged ahead, overtaking the gallant front-runner, Marsh Wren.
Limerick Lace, however, refused to yield to her rival. Gradually, she closed the gap, thrilling the crowd as their roars crescendoed. In a heart-pounding spectacle, the two mares owned by JP McManus battled fiercely.
Ultimately, to the joy of Donoghue and trainer Gavin Cromwell, Dinoblue fell just short. Limerick Lace held on, securing victory by a mere three-quarters of a length.
