cheltenham festival / 2011 news /
RSA Chase The RSA Chase is one of the most popular races at the Cheltenham festival with punters finding the three-mile course with nineteen fences an enjoyable and potentially profitable affair.
The race takes place on the second day of the annual renewal and the favourite tends to attract a lot of support with the situation no different so far this year. At present the favourite in the ante post betting market is Time For Rupert. The Paul Webber-trained seven-year-old is as short as 9/4 with those who bet with paypal and is still attracting support from professional gamblers at what would normally be considered a very tight price. However, the backers will have been heartened by the comments coming from Webber following a final schooling session for the smart chestnut gelding. The horse jumped three fences with Will Kennedy doing the steering and put in a faultless performance. Webber was quoted as saying “His jumping was as good as it was when he won at Cheltenham in December”. The horse has not raced since his December victory but has been to Cheltenham for gallops on a number of occasions and has a strong liking for the course. Webber also suggested that the horse would not have an issue with the ground conditions as long as it is not declared as firm. A note of caution should be sounded before backers lump on and that is the fact that there has been no winner of the race that has had such a long time off racing prior to the event. |
