King Confidence Behind Medermit Trainer Alan King has highlighted novice chaser Medermit as his best chance of success at this year's Cheltenham Festival.
The Barbury Castle trainer believes the grey will be a major player in the Irish Independent Arkle Chase. After winning impressively over the tricky Mildmay fences at Aintree on his chasing debut, the seven-year old blotted his copybook by refusing at Huntingdon. However, it seems that was a one-off incident as he has done nothing wrong in his three starts since and anyone looking at the Cheltenham betting offers should bear this in mind. His return to form was completed last time when he won the Scilly Isles Novice Chase at Sandown, a Grade 1 chase and also a recognised Arkle trial. That race was over two and a half miles, but such is the gallop they go in the Arkle that stamina is an asset. Alan King has won the race in the past with Voy Por Ustedes so the trainer knows the type of horse required and Medermit is a runner that needs to be respected. Meanwhile, the Grand National 2011 tips look set to be a very tough call with four horses currently vying for favouritism ahead of the big race in April. |
