Punters Look Forward to the 141st Year of the National Hunt Chase Challenge Cup 11/02/11
As the title suggests, this is the oldest race run at the Festival and the longest covering over 4 miles. Many of the leading contenders that are quoted at the moment have other Festival engagements and this will be a race that takes shape nearer the time, so that's something anyone looking to place a horse racing bet should remember.

At the moment Chicago Grey from the Gordon Elliott stable heads the market and his form over the course this year will certainly give him an advantage, although he can take a while to get going so this extended trip could be what he needs. Looking through the other entries Nine De Sivola has history in this event and comes from the Ferdy Murphy yard which have won the event twice before and the online betting will no doubt reflect this.
He fell when going well 3 out in the 2007 running yet is still a novice so still qualifies believe it or not four years later - 0-19 over fences, he also finished third in the 2009 running of this race and also finished second in the 2007 Irish National and Scottish National. Others that will take the eye if they line-up here will be Triggerman and Irish raider Some Target. Of course this race has been the domain of Jonjo O'Neill of late and he has four entries – Aberdale, Born Again, Alfie Sherrin and Galaxy Rock – O'Neill has had five winners of the four-mile contest including three consecutive successes from 2002 to 2004. So he clearly likes to target this race at the Festival.
