Oscar Whisky Cheltenham Warm Up With the Cheltenham Festival 2011 fast approaching many professional horse betting tipsters are looking towards the chances of big name horses at decent ante-post prices.
And one of the horses that are currently being discussed for such honors within racing circles is Oscar Whisky. This tough Nicky Henderson-trained animal has been developing a strong reputation amongst backers for delivering the goods and his prospects for Cheltenham seem strong. At the moment the six-year-old is expected to challenge for the Stan James Champion Hurdle and is priced at 14/1 in the ante-post betting market to grab victory in the contest. However, the horse may yet be entered in the Ladbroke World Hurdle instead. The second race is a mile longer and is quite a different race so a decision will need to be made quickly and carefully. The choice between the two races will be made following a run in the William Hill Welsh Champion Hurdle at Ffos Las on 5 February. This is the inaugural running of the highly awaited race and will see the Channel 4 cameras at the course for the first time. By happy coincidence, Oscar Whisky’s owner is Dai Walters is the developer behind the West Wales track and has a good record with his horses at his course, so this will be one to watch. Oscar Whisky won well at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day and a course victory is usually a good indication of potential to win at the Festival. We will wait and see in which race the challenge will be made. |
