Snowy Has Mullins Eyeing Warmer Climes Could it possibly be third time lucky for Willie Mullins' talented Snowy Morning? After running a cracker to chase home stable companion Scotsirish at Fairyhouse, there will be many thinking the ten-year-old has a major chance in the Grand National in April, writes Elliot Slater. Sunday's Grade 2 event over an inadequate trip showed that Snowy Morning, ninth behind Mon Mome at Aintree last year and third 12 months earlier behind Comply Or Die, is in great shape this time around and could give them all plenty to think about if the handicapper doesn't overburden him. Most eyes at Fairyhouse will have been on the winner as Scotsirish ran a great trial for the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival (for which he has been trimmed to 20/1 from 33s), but I suspect it won't have gone unnoticed that Snowy Morning, running over the shortest trip of his fencing career, showed plenty of spark and appears to have lost none of his ability or enthusiasm. Mullins hasn't confirmed whether the gelded son of Moscow Society is a definite starter at Aintree, but with him having shown a liking for the daunting fences in the past the balance of probability suggests he will be in the big race line-up. A best priced 40/1 shot, Snowy Morning appeals as a sporting each-way investment at this stage of proceedings. As well as nine career victories Snowy Morning has twice been placed in Grade 1 company behind The Listener and Neptune Collonges respectively, and has the necessary touch of class so often found in the profile of a Grand National winner. |
