Muthmir travelled like an absolute dream and absolutely hosed up with Graham Lee barely breaking sweat.
Muthmir turned what looked a highly competitive renewal into a one-horse race as he romped home in the valuable six-furlong handicap at York.
The lightly raced four-year-old, trained by the in-form William Haggas, came with a dream run under Graham Lee.
The 4-1 favourite picked off long-time leader See The Sun and the always-prominent Goldream in the last half a furlong to win going away by a length and a half.
Goldream was second, with Rene Mathis another three-quarters of a length back in third. Irish raider Zalty came home in fourth spot.
Muthmir was soon made favourite for the 32Red Cup at Glorious Goodwood next Saturday, with Haggas suggesting that would be the plan.
Speaking from Ascot, he said: "I'm absolutely delighted and we'll keep him in the Stewards' Cup (now the 32Red Cup)."
The trainer's wife and assistant, Maureen, added: "We've always liked him and he's a bit enthusiastic. They went a fast pace which really suited him, and he was given a lovely ride.
"He got his ground, which he's only really had once before, and today was a good day. Graham said he ran off with him when he asked him to quicken.
"He's in the Stewards' Cup next week and the penalty might get him. We have no worries about running him back quick as he's not a had a hard life."
