Some of the biggest names making the arrival this year will be Thistlecrack (already marked as the main favourite to win the event), Cue Card, Don Cossack (last year's winner), Conneygree (winner in 2015), Douvan, Native River, Empire of Dirt and many other.

The biggest surprise when it comes to the pre – race odds was caused by Lord Windermere in 2014. The odds on Davy Russell’s horse were 20/1 before the start of the event, and they have won it with an amazing 6:43 time. The record holder in this field is the winner from 1941, horse named Poet Price which ended the race with 6:15 record.

The main favourite for victory this year Thistlecrack is a British Thoroughbred race horse, currently competing in National Hunt races. The first victory was recorded in 2014, while the first big achievement was winning of Sefton Novices Hurdle in 2015. This season he has been pretty much crushing everyone, being one of the best staying hurdler in the UK with wins in the Long Distance Hurdle, Cleeve Hurdle, World Hurdle, Long Walk Hurdle and Liverpool Hurdle. He is currently priced at 7/2 to win the festival, but the general impression we will be in for a tight competition.
