Cheltenham Festival 2018

With just a couple of months to go before the start of what is described, by many, as the pinnacle of the jump season. We’ve decided to put together a few horses you may also like the look of, which we feel may well just take the glory.

Cheltenham Festival Tips

This wouldn’t be a tip without us mentioning Sizing John, first and foremost this horse has outperformed some of, what many have described, as leading contenders when placed alongside it. Though, that said, Sizing John failed to fire in the Leopardstown Christmas Chase recently.

However, last year Sizing John took the Gold Cup title and we think it may just make it number 2, what with the absence of Thistlecrack. You’ll find the latest news and popular tips at TWEs Cheltenham festival page, check them out for all things horse racing.

The first race, which usually brings out the famous Cheltenham Festival roar, is the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, last year Labaik took the honours but this year we’ll be backing Annamix, from Willie Mullins’s stable. Since September, Annamix has taken 40% of all bets for the Supreme race. To put this in context, the second most popular horse is Sayar, which has attracted 13% of the betting. Annamix is new to UK soil and can be backed now around the 10-1 mark, a somewhat drop from last month where you could’ve grabbed a 30+ sp.

Our third and final certainty, if such a thing exists ;) is Altior, racing in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, on the Wednesday. Altior ran well in 2017 and took the honours in the Arkle Chase, at the Festival. There’ll be around a dozen runners in this year’s Queen Mother Champion Chase, and we’ll be tipping Altior. Yet to be beaten over hurdles or fences in 11 starts we are confident it’ll take the honours, despite a recent wind operation.

So, what do you think? Who would you pit against our choices in these eagerly awaited races?

To summarise –

Sizing John, for the Gold Cup.

Annamix, in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

Altior in the Queen Mother Champion Chase.
