Tiger Roll 25/1 to win 2019 Grand National after 2018 success

The Gordon Elliott-trained horse among the 112 entries for the 2019 Grand National, with the runner priced at 25/1 for victory.

You have to go back to 1974 to find the last time that a horse retained his Grand National crown, with Red Rum managing to do this before triumphing in 1977 to land a hat-trick.

Tiger Roll will become the latest horse to try and emulate the Grand National’s most famous winner when he lines up at Aintree on Saturday 6 April, with Paddy Power making the Gordon Elliott horse a 25/1 chance to repeat history and win this famous steeplechase.

Tiger Roll is among the 112 entries for the Aintree spectacular, with the Grand National 2019 odds having now been updated and the horse is trading as short as 16/1 with Ladbrokes who will be concerned that plenty of punters will come for this popular charge once again.

Tiger Roll is sure to be carrying more weight for the race in April, with many customers using their Grand National Free Bets for some of the other selections in the race.

While it’s far from clear as to the forty runners and riders at this stage, Vintage Clouds looks a likely runner and he’s currently available at 25/1 with William Hill, while Pleasant Company is available at 33/1 with the same firm.

The latter finished a narrow second to Tiger Roll in the 2018 Grand National, with the horse hoping to go one better for connections this time around, while Elegant Escape and Walk In The Mill are others on the current shortlist.

The Grand National remains the most famous race on the National Hunt calendar, with fans from all over the world tuning in to watch the spectacular race which involves two stamina-sapping circuits of the Aintree course and some famous obstacles.
